The Big Ten announced on Tuesday that their Council of Presidents and Prime Minister voted to allow the federation to play football in the fall of 2020. The Big Ten will open the season on the weekend of October 24 with teams play eight regular matches for eight weeks. along with a Big Ten Championship game and six additional comfort games.
The Big Ten Championship game is scheduled for December 19, making the Big Ten eligible or the College Football Round when the season's final CFP Rank announcement is set or December 20.
The Big Ten will also play tournament consolation games with teams ranked second to seventh in their divisions matching on December 19. However, there may be adjustments to Those games, as Wisconsin's sporting director Barry Alvarez said the Big Ten will try to avoid repeating matches if the teams have played during the regular season.
Tickets will not be sold and fans will not be allowed to attend matches this season, although exceptions may be made for athletes' families, coaches and staff.
The conference will now have a quick, daily COVID-19 test as a focus of the return game plan. Examination of athletes and coaches will begin on September 30.
