For fans who want to live as a baseball player for a day, Pensacola's Wahoos can make that dream a reality.
The Blue Wahoos, a Double-A branch of the Minnesota twins, listed their stadium in Pensacola, Fla., on Airbnb for tenants. Special packages cost $ 1,500 per night (plus fee) and can accommodate up to 10 people. Guests have full access to the club's club house, cages and yard.
According to the list, "guests are welcome to hit home plate, play catch in the yard, run the base, enjoy a picnic in the yard or find other creative uses for this area!"
One bedroom connected to the clubhouse is equipped with four bunk beds and two queen sized beds. It also includes two flat-screen TVs and kitchenettes with refrigerators, freezers, coffee makers and microwaves, according to the list. A Blue Wahoos employee will stay behind to provide confidentiality and answer questions.
The team, co-owned by golfer Bubba Watson, has sought ways to take advantage of its space with the suspended baseball season during the coronavirus pandemic. Pensacola hosted a local baseball tournament on Saturday and set up a golf course on the field for fans to enjoy on the weekends. The Blue Wahoos plans to hold a film screening and fireworks display on May 29.
