LOS ANGELES – Tiger Woods has made the kind of start-up missing in his rounds at the Riviera Country Club over the years.
He cannot maintain it.
After opening his hole and making two more birdies in the first nine holes to shoot 31, Woods cooled down in the first round of the Genesis Invitational and achieved a score of 69 on Thursday.
It was a disappointing return nine after a lot of good in the first nine holes.
"I had a good start to the front nine and just didn't get a lot of good shots on the next nine," Woods said. "Making some loose swing and making a few good saves at the back nine, but couldn't get any birdies on the back."
Woods notes that he hasn't been practicing on the site much this week, especially on the driving range.
"I tried to put it together on the range and I did a good job of figuring out how to make solid contact and put the ball in the right direction and can get started there quickly with 3 fast, "He said."
