NHL roundup: Isles overtake Flyers to keep the streak alive


Mathew Barzal scored in both the third and penalty shootout stages, when New York Islanders overcame a deficit of three goals and extended their score to 14 games with a 4-3 victory over hosts Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.

Jordan Eberle opened the shootout by beating Brian Elliott between the pads, before Barzal followed closely in the second round.

Thomas Greiss secured the victory with a poke at Flyers captain Claude Giroux as Islanders improved to 13-0-1 in their final 14 competitions. Anthony Beauvillier recorded his second consecutive goal display and Greiss finished with 28 saves for Islanders, who have beaten Philadelphia in twice this season.

Sean Couturier, Oskar Lindblom and defender Ivan Provorov each collected a goal and an assist, and Elliott missed 33 shots for Flyers, who lost three matches in a row (0-1-2 ).
